Things to do in Valencia are quite different. You may chose, everything you like, starting with transport. Various types of transport are at your disposal. The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana provides public transport. The company is responsible for Metrovalencia and other services, such as: rail and bus ones. The main railway station in Valencia is called Estació del Nord. A new station has been built next to it. The new station, Estació de Valéncia-Joaquín Sorolla, has been created to accommodate high speed trains AVE, which run between Valencia and Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante and Sevilla. You may go by plane as well. The airports are in 9 km from the Valencia city centre and in Alicante (170 km from Valencia).
There is one more way to get to Valencia – it is Valenbisi, a bicycle sharing system. Both, residents and visitors can use it. 2750 bikes in 250 bike stations are available around the clock.

Cultural, business and touristic facilities and events

A lot of historic places have been renewed and turned to modern places of rest and cultural development. Some medieval city constructions can be included to these restored sights: ancient medieval Serrans and Quart Towers, Monasterio de San Miguel de los Reyes. Whole old sections have been restored, for example the Carmen Quarter or the Paseu Marítim. The latter one is now a long promenade with palms, put in three lines along the north part of the port.

Valencia has some conventional centres for business events, such as Institución Ferial de Valencia and the Palau de congress, as well as many 5-star hotels for national and international businessmen.

Among things to do in Valencia Spain are local traditions and festivals, such as Fallas and Tribunal de les Aigües de Valencia, which has been declared the Patrimoni Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanitat. Together with this, Valencia celebrates lots of world class sport events. Among them America´s cup competitions, Europian Gran Prix of Formula One, the Valencia Open 500 tennis tournament, the Global Champions Tour of equestrian sport, moto and yachting races etc.

In the sphere of culture, Valencia things to do are also quite different. The most interesting cultural institutions are: University of Valencia, founded in 1499, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, which is specialized in Mediterranean music. One more Valencia music institution is Musikeon, which holds music courses. Talking about Spanish culture, one can not help mentioning Valencia Spain attractions, and namely, Valencia attractions in the sphere of gastronomic culture. The most famous Valencia dishes and beverages are: paella, bunyols, horchata de chufa,”all i pebre”, arroz al horno. ¡Buen provecho!

Sport

Football is a national game in Spain. It is played everywhere and by everybody. Valencia is famous for its excellent Valencia FC. In 2000 and 2001 it became UEFA Champions League runner-up. Mestalla is the team’s stadium, while Estadi Ciutat de Valéncia is the stadium of Levante UD, playing in La Segunda División and being Valencia FC, rival.

Valencia has two teams, playing American football. They are Valencia Firebats and Valencia Giants. Since 2005, the Firebats, being national champions, have been representing Spain in European playoffs.

One can practise motor sports and rugby in Valencia, because both sports are well developed here.

All the beaches in Valencia are urban. One of them is La Malvarossa. It is named after a former factory, which, in the old days processed mallow petals in order to produce perfumery. This is one of the main Valencia beaches. It has facilities for people with disabilities. Families with children prefer this place, as well because of its fine sand and lots of facilities for children. El Perellonet – numerous offers for el servicio de verano; el Soler – silky sand and such ecological peculiarity as ridge of dunes; la Devesa – next to the National Park Albufera; la Patacona – rich ecosystem with lots of trees, birds, flowers. All beaches of Valencia have the blue flag, given EU.
